Spot Session

This section gives stepbystep instructions which spot dealers new to 4XTRA can follow to get used to the parts of the system that they use most often.

After you have signed on, select the "Spot Blotter" option.

 

The Spot Blotter

The Spot Blotter displays information on current positions. It is refreshed automatically with all the latest deals at the interval set in Timeout in the 4XTRA menu.

To use this option, select "Spot Blotter" from the Spot menu or press F6. The following window appears:

The Spot Blotter is divided into three sections:

1 Summary information on the position:

  The name of the profit centre
  The name of the ladder
  The number of deals done today on this ladder
  Netts in the base currency
  The average rate dealt on this ladder today
  Netts in the reference currency
  The number of deals done by you on any ladder which still require instructions
  The current rate from the rates feed
  P&L in the reference currency
  • 2 The last twelve deals to hit this position

    • The deals each take up one line, and are displayed in different colours:

      Deals complete with settlement instructions are shown in yellow
      Deals still awaiting settlement instructions are shown in white
      Reversals are shown in red
      Reversed deals are shown in grey
  • You can change this part of the screen to show all the deals to hit this position today, or display Cost Centre or Currency reports. This is explained in the section on the Spot Blotter menu which starts on the next page.

    • 3 Deal entry

    You can use this deal entry window to enter a deal on any ladder including the current one. You can also do a cross deal by setting SPLIT to Y. Deal entry is explained in full in the Deal entry section later in this chapter.

     

    The Spot Blotter menu

    Press ESC to see the Spot Blotter menu:

    The menu contains these options, some of which are also on the Spot menu pull-down.

    For example, to see the Short Dates Display, you can do either of the following:

      Press SHIFT+F8 from the Spot Blotter
      Press ESC to see the menu, move down to the "Short Dates Display" option with the down arrow key or TAB and press ENTER
  • The Short Dates Display is shown like this:

    • @FIG 3CM = depscns3.pcx Short Dates Display

    To remove an alternative display like this, press ESC.

    Further information on the Spot Menu

    You may find the option "Change Position" in the Spot menu useful. This allows you to change the position which is displayed by default every morning.
